Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, who made a mark with his tweets in 2021 and had a share in the rise and fall of Dogecoin and Bitcoin, has now turned into a Web3 critic. After Facebook changed the name of its parent company to Meta, the terms “metaverse” and Web3 or Web 3.0 suddenly became the most talked about topics in the internet and crypto money universes. So what did Elon Musk say?
Web 3.0 technology has become one of the hottest topics in the crypto-asset community lately. Web 3.0, unlike Web 1.0 and 2.0, means the creation and development of decentralized online ecosystems.
Elon Musk, on the other hand, mentioned a tweet related to the subject in this way, as seen in the image above. After that, he shared a speech Bill Gates made about the internet in 1995 on Twitter and said, “What will the future be like when you can’t even predict the present? It seems a bit like a marketing word,” he said.
Today, he took the stage again with a new tweet. Criticizing Web3 again, Musk said, “Has anyone seen web3? I can’t find it.” He made fun of his tweet. After this tweet, a surprise support came from former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, who changed the name of Square company to Block.
What Did Dorsey Say?
Dorsey commented “somewhere between A and Z”, implying that Web3 cannot actually be seen in a single spot. Musk also replied to Dorsey, writing, “It could be something like M.”
On the other hand, Dorsey, who replied to Musk, seems to have serious doubts about Web3. The Block CEO tweeted shortly before Musk from his personal Twitter account, “
You don’t own Web3. There are capital companies and liquidity pools. That way, they can’t go outside of what’s encouraging them. It will just be a place with a different name and eventually central again. Know what you’re getting into…”
